Director of Sales & General Manager (1983-2009)

Provided entrepreneurial vision and strategic direction, and held full P&L accountability for all aspects of operations and sales. Established monthly performance goals, planned, allocated and controlled budgets, and continually identified and executed ways to increase productivity, improve operational performance and increase margins. Managed purchasing, inventory and merchandising (5000 sq. ft. retail space and showroom, website), negotiated terms with vendors, and built relationships. Hired, trained, supervised and evaluated the work performance of a staff of 8. 

Served as the selling Sales Manager. Originated and executed marketing and sales strategies to promote the products/brands of high-end product manufacturers. Managed all aspects of the marketing function (including cross-branding with manufacturers) and sales cycle —customer needs analysis; product demos; sales presentations; architectural design consulting; product application advisory; quoting and estimating; contract negotiating/closing, project/technical support; customer service, satisfaction and relationship building. Identified and secured growth opportunities through the combination of acquiring new customers and driving revenue performance among the existing client base.
